4wd expedition in the USA

Off Road Jeep Expedition in Utah and Colorado

For people who enjoy offroading in the UK or those who just fancy trying an offroad driving holiday, you will love this awesome off road trip in Utah and Colorado. 12 days of 4-Wheel driving, on a 14 day trip to the USA.

We provide you with capable off road vehicles such as jeeps, landcruisers, 4runners and so on. We do an, off road, road trip through wild remote areas taking in Moabs famous slick rock off road trails, high level rocky forested mountain passes and ancient Canyon trails.

We camp along the way, enjoying bbq and good camp cooking.

We have an experienced off road guide and provide replacement vehicles in case of any mechanical problems.

It is hard for Europeans to hire off-road vehicles in the US, and actually go proper off-roading with them,  due to insurance issues but we have arranged a special fleet of vehicles that you are insured to drive to awesome places and on challenging off road terrain.

Typical Itinerary

Day 1 Fly to Salt Lake City, Utah USA.

We pick you up from your flight and take you to a local hotel where you can relax after the flight prior to getting the 4-Wheel Drive vehicals in the morning.

Day 2 Manti-La Sal National Forest

Following our guides 4wd you head from Salt Lake City, up into the Manti-La Sal national forest. These high  passes with their forests provide pleasent cooler temperatures from the valleys and we take dirt roads through the beautiful Forest trails lined by Alders. Up high there are small mountain lakes and plenty of wild camping opportunities.

Day 3 San Rafael Swell

We drive to the Canyon in the San Rafael Swell area, which is an expansive area where exploring by 4wd on the off road trails is amazing.  There are some river crossings and challenging terrain, which with several vehicals and appropriate kit we can safely negotiate.

Evidence of Native American cultures, including the Fremont, Paiute, and Ute, is common throughout the San Rafael Swell in the form of pictograph and petroglyph panels on the Canyon walls.

Day 4-5 Canyonlands National Park

We drive towards Moab and spend a couple of days exploring the Canyonlands National Park, with its specially designated off road trails.

Day 6-9 Moab, Slickrock

Famous for slickrock trials like 'Fins & Things' or 'Hell's Revenge' there are actually loads of rocky trails as well as the smooth slick rock. For me both kinds of trail are fun and with 4 days to explore you will find yourself wanting to come back for more.

We also find time to visit the Arches National Park, a must see.

From Moab we take the high mountain pass on rocky trails over the La Sal mountain pass into Colorado.

Day 10-11 Colorado, Ouray, Silverton Telluride

Trails like 'Yankee Boy Basin' and 'Black Bear Pass', the trails have gradings, Easy, Moderate and Difficult, so you cam choose you challenge. Most of the graded trails we drive will be Mod or Diff; you'll find the increadible grip you get on this rock means for people with a little off roading experience from the UK, you should find many of 'difficult' trails totally doable. Advise from our off road guide is there if you want it and we help each other get unstuck if that happens.

Day 12-13 Crested Butte, Aspen

More cool trails, like 'Devils Punch Bowl' and 'Aspen Mountain, Richmond Hill'.

Day 14 Drive back to Salt Lake City for flight home

We take the interstate to get back in time for flights home.

Day 15 Fly home
