Designed to provide training and qualifications in a wide range of outdoor activities we have chosen the National Governing Body (NGB) qualifications which will place our students in the strongest position to obtain employment in the Outdoor Education and Adventure Activity market place. The course is also designed to give you the skills, knowledge and inspiration to develop your own adventure sport skills and qualifications beyond the course and into new careers or outdoor lifestyles.

The possible outcomes from our NGB instructor training course include :

BCU level 1 coach & 1-4* kayak & Canoe.

UKMLTB Single Pitch Award for climbing, SPA.

UKMLTB Mountain Leader award for summer hill walking leadership.

SMBLA Mountain Bike Trail Cycle Leader award TCL or Mountain Bike leader award MBL.

First Aid for outdoor adventure sports and wilderness environments and counts for all UK NGBs. Needed to keep all qualifications valid and required by all outdoor activity employers whom you might work for as an outdoor instructor.

IRF Raft Guide Training Course.

Swift Water Rescue course.

The courses include training and for people who obtain the required standard during the course also assessment. Most Outdoor Qualification NGB training schemes have a prerequisite level of required experience, then a formal approved training course, then a log book recorded period of experience,  followed by a formal assessment. What you are able to obtain in a given time period is different for all and we will guide you through that process individually, as the same cap does not fit all.  All NGB require log book experience which means you have to get out and get experience. Our expert experienced guides and there to help you achieve what you set as your goals.

Since 2004 the Full On Adventure Instructor Training Course (ITC) has offered the highest quality training and an excellent value way into a career in outdoor adventure instruction.

The reason the Full On Adventure course has been so successful is it is different from the alternative courses out there. The other courses out there fall into two categories

a) run by outdoor centres who use students as cheap staff and so not giving them time to get the practical time in on their own outdoor skills that allow them to gain the NGB qualifications needed. These often look attractive on the face of it as often offer a longer course i.e. 4 months for not much more than a 10 week course. But when you look into it most of that time is working effectively for free for the outdoor centre and given that experience is easy to come by after a 10 week course, my advice is it’s actually not as good value. If you want to gain experience assisting and observing after our course just ask, we will not charge you for it.

b) run by colleges offering their own diplomas but not offing many if any NGB qualifications that are needed to get better paid employment as an outdoor instructor or freelance instructor. Really these are just a way to make business studies or other sports courses look more appealing. If you want to work as an outdoor instructor you need NGBs and the experience; anything else is just window dressing. But no need to take my word for it,  ask some people who work in the industry, do the research!

Full On Adventures course is neither a low cost activity center nor a college piggy backing on your outdoor aspirations. On our course we deliver the training to you, you have time to get outdoor sports experienced and hence the time to get the NGBs you need. That means many of our students can leave and either go straight into employment or set up as self employed freelancers able to earn a living in the industry instead of being exploited by low cost outdoor private outdoor centers. My advice is get the outdoor experience, get the NGB then get the work experience with groups, that way round. If you do it the other way around you’ll be so busy baby sitting beginner groups in low skill set activities, with next to no income, it will take you much longer to become successful in the outdoor industry. We define success as doing the interesting outdoor instruction/guiding work and being paid a professional to do it; that is why our course is called Professional Outdoor Instructor Course.

Our Staff hold the highest qualifications in their respective fields and have many years of experience working in National Mountain Centers, Outdoor Education Centres and Adventure Activity businesses. Our staff who are widely traveled professional guides hold many qualifications which include British Canoe Union (BCU) Level 5 coach, Mountain Instructor Certificate (MIC), Winter Mountain Leader, Raft Guide Trainer, Mountain Bike Tutor and Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE).

Our staff are chosen for both their experience and ability to coach our students as individual learners ensuring that course participants are best prepared and motivated to achieve their goals.

Whatever level of experience you come to our course with, you will leave having completed a large number of NGB courses and also a good understanding of the industry. The outdoor skills you develop will empower you to go out and gain the depth of experience and judgement that makes professional and safe outdoor instructors.
