ACTIVITIES

ITINERARY

Plan to arrive in Fort William the night before your trip begins to enjoy some local beers whilst awaiting the morrow’s excitement.
DAY 1
Our friendly and expert canoe guides meet you in Fort William, then we travel in our bus to catch the short Ferry over to the Moidart Peninsular. It’s a stunning drive through the area known as Sunart before we launch our canoes onto Loch Doilet for the start of this amazing trip. After a good lunch on the Loch shore we descent the river Polloch using techniques our guides will teach you, to reach Loch Sheil. We camp on the shores of Loch Sheil looking up towards Glen Finnan known for Harry Potters train ride.
DAY 2
We paddle west on Loch Sheil, exploring the mystical island with the ancient St Finan’s chapel. Then passing under Sheil bridge we descent the river Sheil all the way to the sea. Depending on the tide height there is a canoeable drop into the sea loch of Loch Moidart. Loch Moidart is a stunning place, we explore the various channels lined with small oak trees, visit the ancient castle on an island and see wild life like native mountain goats, sea eagles and seals. That evening you can camp on the shores of Loch Moidart or stay at the Glenuig Inn for a night in comfortable accommodation and to relax in their bar.
DAY 3-5
We take a short bus journey to the next part of our adventure a three day canoe expedition starting on Loch Morar. We camp on the shores of the loch before a short portage over to Loch Nevis, where we explore this remote and beautiful loch before returning to Morar or Mallaig depending on the prevailing weather conditions.
Most people return with us to Fort William, but some will wish to stay in Mallaig over night before catching the famous harry potter steam train back instead. Or as Mallaig is the port for many of the western isles some people continue onto Skye, Rum, Eigg, Muck and others. For those of you with an extra week, enquire about joining our sea kayak guides for a weeks sea kayaking as a follow up adventure week, as we can start that in Mallaig.
