Full On Adventure owner John Mason is backcountry skiing in BC, Canada for the winter. John has been exploring the outstanding province of British Columbia for over ten years on back country skis. We are considering setting up a chalet in BC specifically aimed at keen European skiers and especially those from the UK who’d like escape the over crowded European resorts and windy Scottish mountains and ski the best of BCs back country.
In central BC the snow is light and fluffy unlike the heavier wet stuff of the coastal mountains which are better know to Europeans, with the popular resorts of Whistler for example. Also unlike Whistler the town we have chosen to run trips from in central BC is small and funky with a lively music and arts scene and has mountains that are big enough for amazing off piste skiing but small enough to allow them to be easily accessible all winter.
So if you are a keen piste skier who is bored of the ordinary resort ski holidays but still wants the great food and funky ski town night life then let us know and we’ll put you on our contact list for on piste trips here with us when we open our chalet.
For those wanting to off piste ski, guided or self guided, then you’re going to love this place so get in touch if this is something that interests you as it will accelerate our plans to make it a reality. The great thing about our proposed location in central BC is that with a great small resort and larger ones within easy reach, it is a great place for mixed groups, some can ski back country off piste and others who prefer the chair lifts can enjoy holidaying together in the same place. It is even possible for groups split and ski back country in the morning, meet up for a great lunch and then go on resort together in the afternoon. So if that sounds good to you let us know and we’ll put you on the list for info about it all for 2012/13 winter season.
With great summers it is also an outstanding location for mtb or canoe holidays, road trips BC from Calgary to Vancouver, staying at out central base enroute. Let Full On Adventure know if this is something you’d like to do, so we can keep you in the loop.
Notice we haven’t said where in central BC we are? Why, because it is the best kept secret in back country skiing and other outdoor activities, so let us know if you want to share in the experience here, we might even let you know where you are going, on a need to know basis! Over the last 24 hours we have had 30+ cm of fresh light powder snow, I think you’ll agree if you like skiing that is all you need to know for now!
